West Sussex Trials New Booking System at Five Local Tips

West Sussex County Council has introduced a new booking system scheme, which is being trialled from March 15 at five local recycling centres (tips), in preparation for the predicted ‘spring surge’.

Bognor Regis, Crawley, Horsham, Littlehampton, and Shoreham-by-Sea are the first five tip sites that are set to enforce this new scheme. Residents can book a slot to the tip up to 14 days in advance and from March 15, they will only be allowed to make one trip per week.

In an attempt to reduce significant congestion and queues, West Sussex County Council advises that the new booking scheme will help reduce the number of visitors to the site at one time, which in turn will also help maintain social distancing, following the government guidance.

This comes just weeks after continuous reports of increased fly-tipping in the local West Sussex region and there are concerns that with limited visits to the tip, we will see this increase further.
